Though it was released in early January, Joey Bada$$’s B4.Da.$$ has held up as one of the strongest albums of the year. The LP is packed with stellar production and dense rhymes that tell the story of Joey’s journey, thus far. One of the album’s standouts is the DJ Premier-produced “Paper Trail$.” The song depicts the MC’s struggle to make it, on his terms, with just “a dollar and a dream.”

In the video for “Paper Trail$,” Joey plays the role of a man who is willing to do whatever it takes to get money, no matter the consequence. The character’s paper chase is contrasted by visuals of his mother similarly toiling for money, but through more legitimate means. In the end, each person’s pursuits yield results, but at very different costs. Check out the video.
