Kendrick Lamar is a man of many voices. He can go from a high-pitched whisper to a fierce growl in an instant, as showcased on a number of songs. Recently, he put this talent to use in playing a prank on his label-mate and friend, Jay Rock.

During one of Rock’s radio appearances in support of his recently released (and stellar) new album, 90059, Kendrick called in to talk to Rock. Rather than play it straight, however, Kendrick showed his mischievous side by not only impersonating a female fan, but actually trying to get the digits off the big homie. “You know I love ’em talk, dark and handsome,” K. Dot says, without breaking character. Surprisingly, Jay Rock did not recognize the voice of the man with whom he’s shared more than a few brilliant tracks.

After a few good laughs, Kendrick reverted back to his normal speaking voice and praised Rock for how he led the way during the early days of TDE. Check it out.
