Royce Da 5’9″ & Logic Rain 7 Minutes of Lyrical Armageddon Over DJ Premier’s Magic (Audio)

In July, PRhyme, the collective of DJ Premier, Royce Da 5’9″ and Adrian Younge, released a new track titled “Mode” that was included on the soundtrack for the Forest Whitaker and Jake Gyllenhaal led boxing film, Southpaw. The song featured Logic and was a 2 minute and 49 second lyrical explosion between Royce and Young Sinatra. It turns out, that was only an appetizer for the main course. PRhyme have now released the full version of “Mode” and it is 7 minutes of pure lyrical Armageddon.

The expanded version of the song will be included as part of PRhyme’s forthcoming deluxe re-issue of their heralded 2014 eponymous album. Royce delivers 3 verses, each increasing in intensity, while Logic bridges them with 2 sets of his own monstrous bars. Each is a respected lyricist in his own right, and they seem to feed off of each other’s competitive spirits. In this fierce display of verbal sparring, who came out on top?
