Nick Grant Kicks One of The Best Verses Of The Year…Excluding NOBODY (Video)

Hi. We recently created AFH TV, Ambrosia For Heads’ streaming video service, because we believe real Hip-Hop deserves its own dedicated TV home, but we need your help to make it great. Please subscribe to AFH TV. It is only $1.99/month or $12/year, and already features some amazing content, but the best is yet to come. Thank you for all of your support.

Ever heard of Nick Grant? He recently went on the Sway In The Morning show and delivered one of the best verses of the year, hands down, with no qualifications. The South Carolina MC earned a 35+ minute interview with the OG Hip-Hop personality, after he smashed a cypher, that also featured CyHi The Prynce, in October.

During a 6-minute introduction, Sway said the young man gave him a feeling like he had when he heard a select number of MCs like Nas, OC and Pharoahe Monch for the first time. Sway took his time playing musical highlights from each of those veteran MCs, as he built his case for Nick possessing the same characteristics that Sway had seen in those other artists.

When Nick finally spoke, he presented himself with the humility of an emerging MC, but the quiet confidence of a man who understands the level of his talent. He talked about his background, his influences and the management team that has helped him get to where he is now (Jason Geter of Grand Hustle). However, as it should be, he let his verses say the most. After kicking a capellas from songs “Gold Chains” and “The Jungle” at 12:50 and 20 minutes in, respectively, Sway tees him up for a freestyle. Starting at the 24:30 mark, Nick proceeds to absolutely destroy OutKast’s “Atliens” track for nearly 5 minutes straight. It is a performance that rivals some of the best freestyles on the show, from King Los to Logic to Lupe Fiasco. Take a look and get ready to catch the feeling.
