Like the song, the video for Jeezy’s “Sweet Life,” featuring Janelle Monae, is a story of redemption. Jeezy shows the different paths his life could have taken and how he turned his life around with music. However, the journey is bittersweet, as the MC is seen reading headlines about Black on Black violence, rising imprisonment rates, and more.

It is likely no coincidence that Jeezy released the video today, on the day we honor Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The visuals play like the MC’s dream of what his life has become and how he would like for it to materialize for others who are facing the circumstances he overcame.
