Due to their immense commercial success, sometimes people forget that 2 Chainz and Lil Wayne can really RAP. They use the video for “Bounce,” from 2 Chainz’s just released album Collegegrove, to remind all that their pen games remain sharp as steel.

Drawing heavily from a recent episode of Empire, the video pits Chainz and Wayne against each other in an epic Rap battle. Though the event is clearly staged, the two go at each other with a level of ferocity that neither has exhibited in quite some time. There’s an underlying sense that their competitive juices started flowing in the making of the song, and each is literally trying to take the other’s head off with A-game lyrics.

The theatrics of the video, with each MC fully animated and oohs and ahhs from the crowd, heighten the feeling that the battle is more than just for show.
