Action Bronson & Meyhem Lauren Heat Up A DJ Shadow Beat (Audio)

Last week (March 15) marked five years since Action Bronson formally introduced himself with the self-released Dr. Lecter album. On that celebrated LP, Bam Bam also brought his Outdoorsmen crew along with him. “Chuck Person” and “Bag Of Money” would shine a light on one member in particular: Meyhem Lauren. Bronson’s childhood friend, Lauren was quickly understood as a fellow lover of culinary delights, street maneuvers, and hardcore East Coast Hip-Hop.

In 2016, Meyhem is still at Bronson’s side. In many episodes of the “F*ck, That’s Delicious” series, Meyhem will be Bronson’s dining companion, as the guys eat delicacies and local fare alike in their travels. More than a hype-man or off-shoot, Lauren also teamed with D.I.T.C.’s Buckwild for the Silk Pyramids release two years ago.

Meyhem and Action are still busting down verses like two Queens, New Yorkers living out their dream. On “Garlic & Oil,” the pair falls very much into that ground-floor style of food, car, and city references, draped in confidence. The track appears rehearsed than a freestyle, although it snatches portions of DJ Shadow’s 2002 single “Six Days.”

A set-up for Meyhem’s Platto D’Oro sophomore LP, this track makes a strong case for, like their work with Alchemist, the members of the Outdoorsmen may want to give the Blackalicious, Cage, and Latyrx producer a ring for more heat to saute the goodies.
