DOOM Releases A Live Performance Of “Accordion” (Audio)

It’s been more than a decade since DOOM’s Live From Planet X was released, and for many of his longtime fans, it’s the closest they’ve gotten to seeing him live. The notoriously private MC and producer has appeared on stage extensively throughout his nearly 30-year career, but many times his appearances are clandestine and purposefully under the radar. This, of course, only brings more interest and attention to his events and many Heads who indeed have seen him live get the sense of belonging to some secret, exclusive club. Even at SXSW, an internationally renowned festival known for attracting major (and sometimes enigmatic) talent, DOOM appeared only in video form. This no doubt left some disappointed but surely led credence to DOOMstarks‘ purported inevitability.

News of a historic re-issue of Live was announced earlier today by Nature Sounds, and with it comes another opportunity for fans to get an auditory glimpse into what the elusive DOOM stage show is like. The album will be released on vinyl for the first time ever on May 13th, and in celebration the Brooklyn, New York-based label has uploaded the live rendition of “Accordion,” which was recorded before the release of its home album, 2004’s Madvillainy. The wax edition of Live From Planet X is now available for pre-order from Gas Drawls.
