Members Of Public Enemy, Cypress Hill & Rage Against The Machine Are Forming A Supergroup
The emergence of a new website on Tuesday (5/18), prophetsofrage.com, set the Internet ablaze with speculation that it might be related to a new project involving Rage Against The Machine and, possibly, Public Enemy. The site, which experienced server problems throughout the day, simply features a countdown clock to June 1, and a hashtag that reads #takethepowerback.
Now, new details have surfaced and, Billboard is reporting that the Prophets Of Rage are actually a new supergroup that does involve members of Rage Against The Machine and Public Enemy, as well as Cypress Hill. According to the report, Public Enemy’s Chuck D and Cypress Hill’s B-Real will join forces with Rage’s guitarist Tom Morello, bassist Tim Commerford and drummer Brad Wilk in the new group. RATM lead vocalist, Zack de la Rocha, is not said to be involved.
The Return Of Rage Against The Machine Appears To Be Prophetic.
The group is slated to perform on June 3 at the Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles. Notably, that is just 4 days before the California primary for this year’s presidential election. Given how outspoken many of the members of the group have been on political issues over the decades, the show is likely to be quite a firestorm.
