Swizz Beatz Says DMX Is “Clean, Focused” And Working With Dr. Dre & Kanye West
DMX, one of the biggest artists of the turn of the millennium, might be poised for an epic comeback. As fans know, Dark Man X has battled substance abuse and inner demons for a number of years since his meteoric ascent in 1998 and ’99. According to Swizz Beatz, however, in an Instagram post that he made several weeks ago, X has turned a corner and is making substantial progress on a new album.
While Swizz does not disclose the title of an album or a release date, he states that DMX is “focused, clean, & ready to earn back his crown.” Further, he discloses that DMX has been working with some heavy hitter producers on the album, namely Dr. Dre and Kanye West.
As fans may know, X has recorded on tracks produced by both Dre and Ye, in the past. He worked with the then still relatively new Kanye on “Dogs Out,” from his 2003 album Grand Champ. He recorded on a Dr. Dre track years later, when he released “Shit Don’t Change,” on his free EP The Weigh In, however the beat was recycled from Snoop Dogg’s 2006 song, “Boss’ Life.” New tracks from the two mega producers in 2016 would be meaningful under any circumstance. However, if X is truly ready to to make another run, as Swizz states, these collabos could be game-changing.
Our coverage will continue as more developments arise. Until then, here’s a possible preview of what to expect.
