In speaking with Beats 1’s Zane Lowe, Mac said of the forthcoming LP “it’s an album that’s all about the journey that is love.” He also disclosed that the making of the project went in a different direction than he expected. “It was so nice because it just started as an EP, and the deeper and deeper I got into it, the more I realized I had to shed light on the topic…It’s a journey, man. I’m really excited for it. It’s something special,” he added. In discussing the idea of “the divine feminine,” Mac said “it was actually a concept that was told to me about the energy of the world being a female energy…And how that mirrors the soul of a woman. Like ‘Mother Earth.’ Falling in love with the universe.”

The first release from the LP is the joyful song “Dang!,” which features an unbelievably soulful performance from Anderson .Paak. It feels like all the joys of summertime, packed into a four and a half minute groove.

The Divine Feminine follows Miller’s 2015 album, GO:OD AM.
