Teyana Taylor Channels Flashdance. Kanye West Fades Away (Video)

Tonight (8/28), Kanye West was given 4 minutes to do anything he wanted at the 2016 VMAs. According to reports, even MTV did not know what Ye was going to do. Given his track record, including embarrassing Taylor Swift at the 2009 VMAs, when he rushed the stage in protest of her winning the award for Best Female Video over Beyonce (a move that still haunts him to this day), and announcing he was running for President in 2020 during last year’s telecast, there was no telling what West would do. As it turned out, he spent his time talking about fame, gun violence, the future of Hip-Hop and more, but it was what happened after he stopped talking that left people speechless.

The ultimate purpose of Kanye’s appearance was to debut the world premiere of his video for “Fade,” from his album The Life Of Pablo. The last song on the album, featuring Post Malone and Ty Dolla $ign, it took center stage without even a glimpse of West in the visual. Instead, Teyana Taylor Taylor strutted onto the screen and completely owned it with a performance that was part homage to the film Flashdance, and part introduction to those who do not know of her ferociousness. It is guaranteed to be one of the most talked about moments of this year’s show.
