REKS Shares The Recipe For Roasting Wack MCs & It Starts With Fire (Video)

For over a decade, REKS has been putting in work as one of Boston’s finest. During that time, the underground MC, known as Rhythmatic Eternal King Supreme, has worked with and earned the respect of some of Hip-Hop’s most revered beatmakers, including DJ Premier Pete Rock, Hi-Tek and Statik Selkektah. While it’s been a couple of years since the release of his last album, he is prepping The Greatest X (pronounced as The Greatest Unknown), which will hit stores on September 9, via Brick Records.

The album will feature a who’s who list of producers, including Large Professor, The Alchemist, Evidence, Statik Selektah, Apollo Brown, Black Milk and Buckwild. REKS said of the project, “Over the past two and a half years I have been recording songs with the understanding this would be album number 10 for me and thus something monumental. The Greatest X is a valuable addition to my catalogue; and an important album for Hip-Hop period. I liked the idea (double-album) because it would represent something special for album number 10. The Greatest X is more of an experience than it is an album. It is one of my proudest accomplishments.”

REKS kicked off the album cycle with the hard-hitting track, “The Recipe.” Produced by Nottz, the song features REKS attacking the beat with quick-flipped wordplay as he says “let that wack Rap die with the rest of these fools.” In the video, he takes the metaphor of serving MCs to another level, as he is shown literally buying ingredients, heading to the kitchen and dicing up meats and veggies like he does the beat. While others may be putting out junk food, REKS has that recipe flavored by Craig Mack, Naughty By Nature, Souls Of Mischief, ONYX and others who taught REKS how to control his fire.
