Shia LaBeouf Transforms Into The “#1 MC In Hollywood,” With A Monster Freestyle (Video)

Many things come to mind when the name Shia LaBeouf is mentioned. “MC” is not one of them. For years, LaBeouf has been a fixture in Hollywood as an actor and director, who has been involved in major film franchises such as Indiana Jones, Wall Street and, of course, Transformers. On a recent visit to the Sway In The Morning show, however, LaBeouf revealed that he has Hip-Hop in his blood, quite literally.

During part of his discussion with Sway, Shia confirms that he has a deep love for Tupac, Biggie and Missy, so much so that he has tattoos of the iconic artists. With that knowledge, Sway challenged the actor to participate in his vaunted “5 Fingers Of Death” challenge, where MCs are asked to freestyle over 5 randomly chosen beats. For this special edition, Sway tells LaBeouf they will play songs from Pac, Big, Missy and others.

With just a hint of trepidation, Shia agrees, and what happens when he commences is downright shocking. He commences to freestyle, off the top in parts, for 4 minutes straight, weaving in references to the hosts, his lifestyle and the Hip-Hop he loves. It is by no means perfect. He stumbles a few times, and is clearly searching for words at other points, but, for the most part, his rhymes are complex and with meaning, as he delivers them with the swagger of a true MC.

After rhyming to Missy’s “Sock It 2 Me,” Tupac’s “Ambitionz Az A Ridah,” Biggie’s “Kick In The Door,” Dr. Dre’s “Dre Day” and more, LaBeouf is dubbed by Sway as the #1 MC in Hollywood. Putting aside actors like Yasiin Bey, Queen Latifah, Will Smith and others who started in Rap first, LaBeouf is certainly one of the better MCs to surface from Hollywood, but Donald Glover (aka Childish Gambino), a super hero in his own right, may have a thing or two to say about who’s the best thespian to rock the mic.
