Ab-Soul Releases The Track List For His “Do What Thou Wilt” Album & A Dark New Video

On Friday, December 9, Ab-Soul will release Do What Thou Wilt, his first solo album since 2014’s These Days…The Top Dawg Entertainment rapper has already released “Huey Knew,” “Braille,” and “Threatening Nature” since announcing the LP in September, and his rate of output is not slowing down any time soon. Today (December 7), he doubles up in the form of a new single and its corresponding set of visuals.

Ab-Soul’s New Album Is Dropping THIS WEEK. Here’s The New Single (Audio)

“D.R.U.G.S.” is a black-and-white affair in the PANAMÆRA-directed video for the FrancisGotHeat-produced record. In it, Soulo is accompanied by subdued yet trippy vignettes, which include a room filled with black balloons, an eerie masked figure, allusions to Christianity and sex, and more. The lyrics are equally powerful, with Ab rapping things like “if it wasn’t for abortions, I’d probably be on my third son.” Near the song’s opening, he laments his father’s death and his struggle making his mother – a woman so pure – proud despite his many self-defined failures. His mother makes an appearance at the end of the video, which places a positive and uplifting bookend to the dark and ominous images proceeding her.

Also released are the back cover for DWTW and the tracklist. Bas, ScHoolboy Q, Mac Miller, Rapsody, and SZA are some of the LP’s featured guests.

dwtwIt should be noted that track #5 features Kokane (not Kokaine), and that despite the typographical error, the Pomona, California MC confirmed his appearance on the album on Twitter. Pre-orders do not appear to be available (at least, not yet) for Do What Thou Wilt, but there are less than two full days left to wait.
