SiR Is The Latest Signee To TDE & He Brings A Ton Of Soul (Video)
Over the last 5 years, Top Dawg Entertainment has grown into one of music’s most powerful and respected record labels. TDE is the home to some of Hip-Hop’s most celebrated MCs, including Kendrick Lamar, Jay Rock, ScHoolboy Q, Ab-Soul and Isaiah Rashad. Those who follow closely, however, also know that TDE is not defined solely by Rap music. Artists like SZA and Lance Skiiiwalker are keepers of a new brand of Soul.

Last year, the label’s founder and owner, Anthony “Top Dawg” Tiffith, vowed to release six projects. Kendrick Lamar led things off with untitled.unmastered, followed by Q’s Blank Face LP, Rashad’s The Sun’s Tirade, Skiiiwalker’s Introverted Intuition and Soulo’s Do What Thou Wilt. As the year drew to a close, many speculated that Top did not make good on his promise but, in a cryptic December message, he declared that TDE had actually released a secret project and TDE’s newest artist would be revealed in early 2017.
True to Top’s word, today the label revealed that Inglewood, California singer/songwriter, SiR, is the newest member of the TDE team. As Tiffith indicated, SiR did indeed release an EP titled HER last year. While the project did not bear the TDE brand, it was supported heavily on social media by several of their artists, including Kendrick. SiR also appeared on several TDE projects, including songs by Jay Rock, Isaiah Rashad and Kendrick. He has also worked with Stevie Wonder, Jill Scott, Anderson .Paak and DJ Jazzy Jeff.

In an official announcement about the signing, TDE President Dave Free said “SiR is a great addition to TDE. He’s a talented writer and artist who’s always willing to work hard and push boundaries creatively, making him a perfect fit.” SiR commented “I’m proud and it’s an honor,” adding “I got so much more to share.”
Along with the announcement, TDE has released a new video by SiR. “W$ Boy” (Westside Boy), is hypnotic Soul, reminiscent of the sultry sounds of Dwele on his 2003 album, Subject. The trippy purple scale video is directed by Panamera and Free.
