Benny’s Video Shows Him As The Butcher. He Verbally Slices & Dices To Alchemist’s Beat

Griselda Records rarely shows signs of touching the brakes. The label that rocked 2018 with a bevy of releases is off to a fast start in 2019. Benny The Butcher takes a Tana Talk 3 favorite and blesses Heads with the proper visual.

The Buffalo, New York MC veteran dropped the video for the Alchemist-produced “Rubber Bands & Weight” today (January 24) and it has him in the kitchen showcasing his bars, which are definitely off the meat rack. “This record was inspired by how my neighborhood was like ‘The Carter’ from New Jack City,” he told Complex who premiered the video. “The streets love this record, and my building goes crazy every time I perform this joint! This record helped make Tana Talk 3 a classic; nobody spitting like this but me!”

Later in the video, Benny is accompanied by his Griselda label mates Westside Gunn and Conway The Machine in a truck, which doubles as dice table. He also raps in a room while standing over ground blanketed with powder. The cold, grimy visuals match the musical content of an album that features Hall N’ Nash, as well as Royce 5’9 and Meyhem Lauren.

2018 was a breakthrough year for Benny The Butcher. He released two cult-championed releases with Stabbed & Shot with 38 Spesh, as well as The Sopranos-inspired A Friend Of Ours before dropping Tana Talk 3 in late November. He also appeared on albums by Ghostface Killah and Alchemist.

Benny also established his own imprint with BSF Records to showcase even more talent from Upstate New York. Hopefully, he isn’t slowing down anytime soon because his prime is in the present. This month, he was invited to work with J. Cole and Dreamville Records at the Revenge Of The Dreamers III recording sessions.
