J.I.D. & Mereba Look Out For One Another On A Soulful Soiree

In the wake of DiCaprio 2, Dreamville’s J.I.D. is currently touring. But that’s not stopping him from releasing new music. Last night (February 24), he promised that new music would be coming out today and he made good on his word. What fans probably weren’t expecting is that he’d be a feature on a Mereba track. The Ethiopian-American singer/songwriter called on the Atlanta, Georgia rapper for a very beautiful and soulful duet titled “Sandstorm.”

J.I.D. shows off his pipes on the song, which largely includes a back-and-forth dialog about love, faithfulness, and betrayal. “But then I remember that you got a temper, and I got no filter,” Mereba sings withing their singing duality. “So we like a sandstorm when we get to blowin’ can we please take it easy? / Let’s just act like adults / I’ma keep it cool now, although I know it’s through now.

Sonically, “Sandstorm” features a smooth piano melody accompanied by a light drum pattern.

“Sandstorm” is slated to appear on Mereba’s forthcoming debut project The Jungle is the Only Way Out, which drops Wednesday (February 27).

Previously, Mereba and J.I.D. collaborated for “All Bad” from J.I.D.’s 2017 album, The Never Story. The two will also come together on the second leg of the Dreamville newcomer’s Catch Me If You Can Tour in June. That is the Leo-inspired title to the run corresponding to 2018’s acclaimed DiCaprio 2.
