Last week Battle Rap veteran DNA beat Geechi Gotti and T-Top in the URL battles that were held as part of the 2019 BET Hip Hop Awards (embedded below). On top of the bragging rights, the Queens, New York MC walked away with $25,000 in prize money.

DNA is clearly still on a high from that event, as he is in the zone during his most recent appearance on Funkmaster Flex’s freestyle segment on HOT 97. Sitting between his homie Rain910 and Flex, the NWX representative goes in as soon as DJ Juanita drops the beat.

While the whole three-plus-minute freestyle is fire, towards the beginning, he blacks out with a confident display. “You know we runnin’ lobbies / My goons’ll dump the shottie / This chess, not checkers, and I’m upper body / Did you get that? / Revolver, hear the click-clack / It’s not working out, can’t stomach what the six-pack / Try me? Never / They know my body, I’ma ride forever / Practice makes perfect and it’s worth it ‘cause my rhymes are better / Hearses go to churches, these verses say that I am clever / Worthless on the circuit, the purpose is for my endeavors / And if you trying to book me, better find the cheddar / But if it’s under 30, check the tire pressure / Seen them once / We don’t believe them punks / We read them fronts / Keep them pumps / ’Til my team says dump / The story is, we don’t need their trust / ‘Cause I’m notorious to walk with the ‘Machine Gun Funk.’

D’s next level rhyme schemes and precise flow are on full display here. His intricate wordplay will take multiple listen to appreciate fully.
