AZ’s New Album Is Weeks Away. Here’s The First Video

It’s been two years since AZ released his Doe Or Die II album. The legendary Brooklyn MC had not released an album for ten years, prior to the long-awaited project.

AZ has stayed active in the two years since Doe Or Die II, appearing on Westside Gunn’s “99 Avirex,” Statik Selektah’s “Historic,” Logic’s “Carnival,” and more. Last November, he also joined fellow wordsmith Kool G. Rap on “Born Hustler.”

Now, the “Sugar Hill” MC has another full body of work ready and he’s shared a number of details. Truth Be Told will be released on December 1, 2023. The album will feature collaborations with Fat Joe and Pharoahe Monch, and is produced entirely by Buckwild.

AZ re-teams with the DITC producer who contributed tracks to both Doe Or Die and Doe Or Die II. Heads may also recognize Buckwild’s work from his production on classics like The Notorious B.I.G.’s “I Gotta Story To Tell”, Black Rob’s “Whoa,” OC’s “Times Up,” and Organized Konfusion’s “Stress,” to name a few.

Ahead of Truth Be Told, AZ also has released the album’s first song and video. “This Is Why” features AZ flexing his timeless flow over a vintage soulful track. The video shows the ageless MC living the good life.

“There is no amount of money that can measure up to the feeling of a natural heavenly bliss of euphoria,” says AZ about the release. “This Is Why I’m Fly!”
