Spice 1 Has Released 1 Of His Best Songs In Years
Spice 1 has sustained a prominent Rap career for over 35 years. The Hayward, California MC who debuted with The Dangerous Crew during the late 1980s has made three gold albums, along with key collaborations with Tupac Shakur, MC Eiht, Method Man, and others. However, in 2024, Spice shows his ability to blend across coasts and generations in a new song with Conway The Machine. He has an eternally resonant message about keeping it real, and the Bay O.G. delivers it with sincerity.
“Crumbs With Bums” is currently the first song on the Ambrosia For Heads playlist (follow it here). It finds the Bay Area link with one of the present-day stars from Buffalo, New York. Spice raps first, “You know I’d rather eat crumbs with some bums than eat some steaks with snakes / Because there’s a such thing as a rich n___a that’s hella fake,” he blasts. The verse continues, describing true romantic partnership and avoiding the pitfalls of bad business. The song is produced by the Elder label and Ace 1.

Conway raps next, keeping the same energy. “I don’t want no favors from ni___as that ain’t genuine / It’s hidden motives, hidden agendas, and they just try’na benefit / They smile in your face, acting the friendliest / Do something for a n___a then tell n___as what you did for them,” he touts, before agreeing that crumbs with bums are better than five-star meals with disingenuous people.
“Crumbs With Bums” follows first single “Gangsta Shhh,” featuring Snoop Dogg, Rick Ross, and Q Bosilini. This collection is a sequel to Spice’s 2019 Platinum O.G. album. Releasing May 3, Platinum O.G. 2 will feature DJ Premier, C.L. Smooth, Treach, Eiht, Devin The Dude, Paul Wall, the late Bushwick Bill, and others. In addition to Elder, N.O. Joe (Scarface, UGK, The Luniz) produced a bulk of the upcoming LP.
