No 90s Beat is Safe. Tony Yayo Sparks Up Channel Live (Audio)

While it’s fairly common in Hip-Hop for MCs to jack each other for beats, the practice is usually directed at the hot track of the moment. Last year, songs like Drake’s “0 to 100,” Troy Ave’s “All About the Money” and Bobby Schmurda’s “Hot N*gga” were all regular targets. However, there was also a surging trend in 2014, led by Raekwon, of artists rapping over 70s and 80s soul classics.

This year, the practice has shifted forward by a decade to the 90s and several MCs including Fabolous, Lloyd Banks and Tony Yayo have been hopping on 90s Hip-Hop classics and taking it back to the essence.

The latest is another freestyle courtesy of Yayo. The G-Unit soldier takes on Channel Live’s 1995 banger, “Mad Izm.” Check out how he sparks it up.
