Isaiah Rashad Addresses The Leaked Videotape That Changed His Life

In February of this year, TDE artist Isaiah Rashad allegedly appeared in a leaked personal videotape. In the video, a man appearing to be the 31-year-old Chattanooga, Tennessee MC was engaged in sex acts with another man.

Rashad, who released The House Is Burning in 2021, has remained silent on the subject for several months. Appearing on the Patreon-driven Joe Budden TV, the gold-selling artist now opens up. He says that the event changed his life. “It’s been a time for my family to come together,” Rashad tells Joe. “Out of everything, it’s been a blessing. With that happening, and my granddad dying a couple of days afterward, and my grandma going through what she’s been through, it’s been a concentration of family together more than it had been before, so if anything, I can’t be mad at everything about it. I always gotta look at the brighter side.”

Budden specifically asks Rashad about his sexuality. “I’d say I’m sexually fluid,” Rashad stated. When the host asked for some more explanation. Isaiah expounded, “I’m still learning about it myself. I’m putting my head in the books to find out the basics of it, but basically, I’m not in full control of when I walk into a room who I’m attracted to. Just because I grew up [one way], and in high school I dated this type of person, and in college, I dated this type of person, doesn’t necessarily mean as an adult that it’s always gonna be [the same specific type of person].” He then added, “I’m more attracted to a personality. I’m more attracted, sometimes, to intellect. Sometimes, it be just being attracted to somebody.”

“I’m not just going out and doing whatever,” he added. “I have an understanding of myself that, you know, to not expect anything out of myself as far as an attraction. If I end up getting close to somebody, I might end up attracted to them.”

Asked when this understanding began, Isaiah Rashad said, “It’s been gradual. It’s been a gradual thing over the last couple years. Like, I notice those things.” He added, “Recently—in the last couple years, I’ve had some experiences dating, hangin’ out, and trying different things—things I didn’t think that I’d be trying.” Joe Budden asks if the artist who has admitted addiction in the past was acting on these feelings while sober. Isaiah confirmed as much.

Rashad did confirm that he is currently in a supportive, monogamous relationship. The artist also added that he will not be seeking legal action against the parties that may have leaked the videotape.
