Skyzoo & Pete Rock Are Making A Collaborative Album

Hi. We recently created AFH TV, Ambrosia For Heads’ streaming video service, because we believe real Hip-Hop deserves its own dedicated TV home, but we need your help to make it great. Please subscribe to AFH TV. It is only $1.99/month or $12/year, and already features some amazing content, but the best is yet to come. Thank you for all of your support.

Last week, legendary producer Pete Rock revealed that he plans to release The Return Of The SP1200. Named after the iconic Emu Systems sampler, the compilation project will include beats that Pete says he made between 1990 and 1998, but never used. JayLib/Beat Junkies member J. Rocc will provide scratches to the tracks from the producer who has made instrumental albums since 2001’s Petestrumentals.

In that same announcement, Pete alluded to releasing a collaborative album with Brooklyn, New Yorker Skyzoo. S-K-Y has since confirmed that news, adding that the two are currently at work now.

In 2018, Skyzoo released In Celebration Of Us on his First Generation Rich imprint. That effort included his “Devil’s Pie” homage, “Baker’s Dozen,” featuring Raheem DeVaughn. He has previously partnered with producers including Apollo Brown (The Easy Truth), !llmind (Live From The Tape Deck), and 9th Wonder (Cloud 9: 3 Day High).

He last released Don’t Smoke Rock with DZA in 2015. In the last year, the producer worked with Kool G Rap & Spesh, Apathy, Westside Gunn, and Conway The Machine.

Previously, Sky has worked with C.L. Smooth and also dropped a “Straighten It Out” freestyle on his pivotal Corner Store Classic mixtape. His Barrel Brothers partner Torae has also worked with Pete several times.
