Del The Funky Homosapien & Living Legends Shine On A New Song

Life is too short to listen to bad music. So…let Ambrosia For Heads sift through it for you and only supply you with that great stuff. Despite the reports, Hip-Hop is alive and well and, in many ways, it’s better than it’s ever been. Not only can we go back and listen to all of our favorites at the click of a button, but there is also a ton of great music still being made by artists, young and veteran alike…if you know where to look. To help with that task, we’ve created a playlist with recently released music. We update it regularly, so subscribe to follow us on Spotify if you like what you hear.

The Living Legends crew have cemented over 25 years as underground Hip-Hop royalty. The California-based collective (which currently includes The Grouch, Eligh, Scarub, Luckyiam, Sunspot Jonz, Aesop, and Bicaso) has been releasing songs throughout 2023. However, on their fittingly-titled “The Return,” they partner with an influence—Del The Funky Homosapien and collaborate together over supreme Statik Selektah production.

The crew gets off on the record, which has hard drums and noisy accents. Across the firing squad, the Legends are confident, wise, and taking a victory lap. Del seamlessly slides into the song. The Hieroglyphics helped light a path for Living Legends, and both crews boast Oakland, California representation; Sunspot and A-Plus recently released Stoney Hawk 2. This collaboration makes sense on paper, and executes in audio.

The Living Legends have released several singles throughout 2023, and are going on tour next month with Brother Ali and DJ Fresh. Del has been working with Jarren Benton, Demrick, and DJ Hoppa. Earlier this year, Statik released Round Trip, featuring Ghostface Killah, Method Man, Raekwon, Inspectah Deck, Posdnuos, Cormega, M.O.P., AZ, Logic, and others.

In addition to “The Return” the AFH playlist features various selections from Statik Selektah’s Round Trip album, along with some of his productions for Paul Wall & Termanology and Nym Lo. It also includes brand new music from Jay Rock and Ab-Soul, Rome Streetz, and more.
