Today, Roc Nation Records released The Harder They Fall soundtrack. The companion to the new Western film starring Jonathan Majors, Zazie Beetz, Delroy Lindo, LaKeith Stanfield, Damon Wayans Jr., Regina King, and Idris Elba is produced by its director, Jeymes Samuel. The multi-medium artist secured some heavy hitters for the 14-track affair, including Ms. Lauryn Hill, Kid Cudi, Seal, and Barrington Levy. It also includes “King Kong Riddim,” a 2021 Roc Boys affair featuring JAY-Z, Jadakiss, and Conway The Machine.

Jada’ kicks things off, honoring the Western theme while getting political too: “Uh, the wild boys, King Kong of the cowboys / You see the bloodshed after you hear the loud noise / We Black outlaws, opposite of The Proud Boys.” The Yonkers, New York legend continues a benchmark year with the kind of delivery that’s made him famous for nearly 25 years. “Harder they fall, that’s dependin’ on where they fall from / They tryna figure out where did we get the call from / I’m tryna see where the f*ck did they get the gall from / Soon as the chains pop, the things pop / Right after the heart stop, the brain stops / Whenever the clock stops, the game stops / Question is, when does the pain stop?” Conway, who has shared the mic with ‘Kiss before, drops some potent bars. “Don’t compare me to nobody, boy / I’m the illest ni**a next to whoever, tell ’em rappers behave / Them subliminals on Twitter don’t really rattle my cage / Notice when I mention my release date, had ’em afraid,” before “Ni**as ain’t f*ckin’ with none of the shit I scribble down on the page / Then I’m paid a 100K to go spit that on the stage / Look, the road wasn’t easy, I ain’t perfect / Nobody put me on, I just put the work in.” With Griselda family Westside Gunn (Conway’s real-life brother) and cousin Benny The Butcher, Conway built his name up independently—before Eminem and JAY-Z eventually supported through ventures. Earlier this year, Conway released the AFH-praised La Maquina on his own Drumwork imprint. Earlier his month he released the Alchemist-produced “Piano Love” on Shady Records.

On his first released Conway collaboration, JAY-Z bats third. “We raised by wolves in the crack den / We the Chicago Bulls, nigga, of back then / That boy Tiger Woods, don’t make me pack nines / We paid in full, sheep skin with the wool / PTSD, from the concrete / Jungle, I move a bundle, a hundo at my peak / My cocaine records stand up next to Meech,” he begins. Hov then channels early 1990s Brooklyn with references that like his song-mates, allude to the King Kong franchise. BackRoad Gee also appears on the song at the choruses.
