Rapper Big Pooh Has A New Album Coming. Here’s The 1st Song (Audio)
Last month, all three members of Little Brother reunited in Durham, North Carolina. Few could have anticipated that Phonte, 9th Wonder, and Rapper Big Pooh coming together under the moniker that birthed their three respective careers more than 15 years ago. It was a key moment for a group that’s had so much influence on Hip-Hop far beyond 2010, when it disbanded.
The members have been busy on their solo and side pursuits. 9th Wonder and his Soul Council partnered with Black Thought for this year’s Streams Of Conscious, Vol. 1. Phonte is a co-host on Questlove Supreme, and recently formed a super-group with Black Thought and Rhymefest. Once very prolific with music, 2018 has seen a slower output from Pooh. That is about to change in a big way.

This Friday (November 2), Rapper Big Pooh is teaming with producer Focus… to release RPM (Rapper Pooh Music). The Virginia native made the announcement with little warning. He drops single “Pray | Prey” in preparation. Featuring singer Cocoa Sarai, the song is built around impassioned bars from Pooh. It deals with faith and survival in challenging times, using some storytelling on how desperate times yield desperate measures.
Focus… uses knocking percussion and urgent keys to enhance the experience. Part of Dr. Dre’s Aftermath production ensemble, the New York City native has worked extensively on Compton. His credits include inclusions on Game’s The Documentary, Slaughterhouse’s self-titled debut, and ScHoolboy Q’s Setbacks. Focus… previously produced two cuts on Pooh’s 2011 LP, Dirty Pretty Things. He has won three Grammy Awards.
